Pour Decisions: Rosé Wines

As the sun ascends in the sky, casting a golden hue over the evenings, wine sippers turn their palates towards a seasonal favorite: rosé wines. This delightful category of wine is known for its beautiful spectrum of pink shades, from pale blush to deep salmon. Rosés have emerged as the quintessential late summer and fall beverage. Its rise in popularity is not just a testament to its visual appeal but also to its versatility, refreshing taste, and the way it encapsulates the essence of summer in every glass.

Like Summer in a Bottle

Rosé wines are celebrated for their ability to bridge the gap between the red and white wine worlds. Rose' wines offer a unique blend of flavors that appeal to a broad audience. Made from a wide variety of grapes and utilizing different winemaking techniques, rosés can range from dry to sweet, still to sparkling. They are an adaptable choice for summer and fall dining and leisure. Whether it's a picnic in the park, a backyard barbecue, or an evening on the lake, or a bonfire with friends, there's a rosé that fits every occasion. Their typically lighter body and refreshing acidity make them an ideal companion to this seasonal transition. And, it pairs delightfully with the food we seem to enjoy, complementing everything from salads and seafood to grilled meats and vegetables.

The allure of rosé wines extends beyond taste to embody a lifestyle. Drinking rosé on a sun-kissed patio or by the lake has become synonymous with relaxation and sophistication. The social media phenomenon of "rosé all day" underscores its status as an integral part of summer lake lifestyle. These wines transition perfectly to fall evening fires, evoking the feeling of leisure, splendor, and enjoyment. In embracing rosé wines, we're not just savoring their delightful flavors but also celebrating the joy and vibrancy of the seasons.

History of Rosé at RFV

During our tenure as a winery, Rolling Forks Vineyards has crafted 5 outstanding rosé wines to date. Our Blush from 2019 vintage has sold out.  This wine was awarded Best of Show Rose' at both the International Cold Climate Competition and the Minnesota Food and Wine Show.  If you’re lucky enough, you might find a bottle or two still stocked in liquor stores.

Catastrosé was a once-in-a-lifetime vintage for a once-in-a-lifetime year. In 2020 a dark hailstorm descended upon our vineyard. From adversity rose this delicious field blend that bestowed notes of pomegranate and red berries - this too has SOLD OUT!

Wooden Link Rose is a beautiful blend of two vineyards, Rolling Forks Vineyards and our friendly neighbors at Wooden Link Vineyards in Barret, MN. Together our grapes produced a jammy rosé that tastes like summer in a bottle.

We crafted our first sparkling wine release Love Struck with our 2023 rosé and won Best of Show at the Minnesota Monthly Food & Wine event, up against the likes of many Californian and international wines.

And recently released Waska Rose' rounds out our Waska family of wines!  This wine features delightful hints of strawberry, rose, and melon.  Stop in and give it a try today!

Be on the look out for a special holiday rose', to be released in November.

Join us this season to enjoy these beautiful Rose' wines!
