Our Minnesota lakes are winery is excited to announce the release of a new wine this month! Named Allegro, it joins our Symphony Series alongside Harmony and Melodia. Allegro is a 2023 vintage crafted from Brianna grapes sourced from Cihlar Vineyards in the pastoral setting of Glenwood, MN, in rural Pope County, which is owned by Brian Cihlar and Mark Cihlar.
HARVEST
The Brianna grapes were harvested on August 21, 2023, with a sugar content of 13 brix.
THE BLEND
Our vintners took a different approach with this vintage of Brianna. A late summer hailstorm last year made its mark in those vineyards which led to an early harvest. With a lower sugar content and higher acidity in the grapes, we knew this was the year to craft a new off-dry white as part of our Symphony series.
TASTING NOTES
This vibrant wine boasts a delightful tropical fruit aroma complemented by subtle floral notes. It offers understated melon and green apple flavors, culminating in a crisp and refreshing taste with just the right touch of sweetness that lingers on the palate.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
For the food enthusiasts among us, this wine is ideally matched with light and fresh flavors like crisp salads, chicken, seafood, delicate pasta, and risottos. Enjoy this dry white wine alongside grilled shrimp and feta pasta, seared scallops with asparagus, or a creamy mushroom risotto. A summery salad with strawberries and goat cheese also makes for a tantalizing choice. Just talking about this is making me hungry!
CASE PRODUCTION
We produced a limited amount of wine for this vintage, only 113 cases were bottled in February of 2024.
The Symphony Series is a celebration of the art of winemaking and the crescendo of flavors that can be achieved through careful blending. With a naturally low sugar content, Allegro amplifies our white grape flavor profiles.
So, who will be next in the Symphony series? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain - each new addition will be a masterpiece of flavor and craftsmanship, designed to delight the senses and elevate the art of winemaking to new heights.
