Joe & Melanie
We’re the Cihlars, founders of Rolling Forks Vineyards.
Since our first days together back in 2007, we’ve dreamed of creating a place where great wine and lasting memories come together. After getting married, raising three wonderful boys, and discovering the perfect spot, that dream became a reality.
We invite you to join us at Rolling Forks Vineyards—where good wine, great company, and the scenic beauty of Lake Minnewaska come together in every visit.
Our Dream
The Farm
We fell in love with this farm for its gently rolling hills and its incredible potential for growing grapes. The views here are truly breathtaking, and the sunsets—unforgettable. There’s nothing quite like relaxing on our patio on a warm summer evening, music playing in the background, as we take in the vineyard and the peaceful beauty of Lake Minnewaska.
The Grapes
We planted our first vineyard in 2010 and now manage 18 acres of cold-hardy grape varieties, all carefully planted with GPS-guided precision and supported by underground drip irrigation systems.
Before launching our own wine production, we supplied grapes to commercial wineries across the region—from Fargo, North Dakota to St. Peter, Minnesota, and many places in between.
Varieties for All
Our Wines
We offer a range of distinctive wines, crafted to be savored and perfectly suited for good company and long, memorable evenings. From sweet to dry and everything in between, each wine is thoughtfully balanced with just the right blend of body, complexity, and a smooth finish.

Our Name
Rolling Forks Vineyards
Our name is inspired by Rolling Forks Township in Pope County, Minnesota, located just south of our vineyards and winery. The township earned its name from the gently rolling prairies and sculpted hills near the Chippewa River—a landscape that mirrors the natural beauty surrounding us. While we’re located in Glenwood Township, we share a deep connection to that spirit, reflected in the sweeping views of Lake Minnewaska that make this place so special.
